goDCgo is an initiative of the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) that encourages the use of sustainable transportation. They provide complimentary transit resources and consulting services to DC organizations and commuters. Our goal serves to decrease traffic congestion, improve air quality and create a better quality of life in the DC area.
Their main service goal is to inform users of the best ways to commute around the D.C. area. goDCgo was created to provide employees, residents and visitors with the education and assistance they need to make more informed choices about traveling in the District.
When goDCgo first reached out to us they were hoping that we could design and engineer a new and improved website so that their users could find the information they were looking for while having a meaningful user experience. Since the goal of goDCgo is to be an informative place for users to receive the best commuting information they wanted a website that would allow for information to be found easily.
goDCgo is not like most of our clients since they are an initiative that was started by DDOT. It was important that we collaborated with goDCgo and DDOT to ensure that all parties agreed upon the strategy. Collaboration in this situation was key because we wanted to provide the best design that was modern and presented the information creating consistency across all brands. Prior to the re-design, goDCgo did have a map feature. However, we were able to enhance and create a more engaging map so that users had an interactive way to view their transit options within the DMV area.
The map feature was very unique and important to goDCgo and DDOT so it was important that our team got it right and made the map stand out on the new website design. The map we were able to create has over 40 unique layers. Each of the layers are the various transit options that users can view.
